PADI Divemaster

Are you passionate about diving? Share your passion with new students during the PADI Divemaster course. 

At Action Scuba, we take the name Divemaster pretty seriously and as a result our divemaster program is different than most. While many other dive shops certify divemasters in a matter of weeks, Action Scuba Divemasters typically take between 6-12 months to complete their training. 

Why is this? As a divemaster, you’ll be responsible for the safety and education of others. You’ll play a crucial role in the training of new divers and you’ll be the expert certified divers turn to for advice, help and guidance.

Therefore, our program is focused on truly mastering diving, with lots of experience built in to give you the confidence and expertise needed to be a true dive community leader.

What makes us different? 

• Action Scuba Divemasters are personally trained by our Course Director and Master Instructors.
• Our divemaster candidates are encouraged and welcome to help on ALL of our courses, as often as they wish, not just the minimum number required to pass.
• Our instructors involve our divemaster candidates in all aspects of training, from course preparation to working directly with students under supervision.
• Our divemaster candidates gain experience working on our dive boat, helping divers, giving briefings and leading tours. After all, this is what most of us picture when we want to become a divemaster down south!

As a result, Action Scuba Divemasters are some of the most experienced and thoroughly trained around, and are well prepared to take the next step as an instructor, armed with tons of actual course experience.

The PADI Divemaster course consists of several main parts:

• Knowledge Development includes home study, classroom or elearning.
• Practical Applications.
• Internship with real customers.
• Stamina Exercises
• Skill Workshop.
• Rescue Workshop
• Deep Diving Scenarios
• Search and Recovery Scenarios.
• Multiple Confined Water Dives. 
• Multiple Open Water Dives.
• Lots of practice!

Prerequisites: 

• 18 years old.
• Advanced Open Water Diver. (or qualifying certification) 
• Rescue Diver. (or qualifying certification)
• Emergency First Responder within last 24 months. (or qualifying certification) 
• At least 40 logged dives.
• Have a doctor signed medical statement.

 What you will need:

• PADI Divemaster Crewpak includes divemaster manual, slates, encyclopedia of recreational diving, knowledge workbook, PADI instructor manual.
• PADI Divemaster DVD.
• Electronic Dive Tables (eRDPML) and RDP table.
• Personal scuba gear is highly recommended.

 What you will be able to do:

• Supervise training and non-training activities.
• Assist a PADI Instructor.
• Teach PADI Skin Diver Course.
• Teach PADI Discover Snorkeling.
• Teach the Scuba Review program.
• Conduct PADI Discover Local Diving.
• Teach Discover Scuba Diving. (with  DSD internship)
• Teach PADI Digital Underwater Photo. (after taking the PADI digital photo instructor course)
• Teach the EFR program. (after taking the EFR instructor course)

This is the first step towards becoming a PADI Instructor.
