PADI Equipment Specialist Specialty Course
An Action Scuba Signature Course
Have you or a dive buddy ever missed a dive due to faulty equipment? Reduce the chance of this by learning gear repair basics and with better knowledge of how your scuba diving equipment works.
The Equipment Specialist course will educate you in the maintenance and minor repair of most dive equipment, from your wetsuit to your snorkel.
And of course, as with all courses at Action Scuba, our Equipment Specialist course goes above and beyond the minimum requirements and is unlike any other course around. With our unique workshop approach packed with hands on practice, you will feel more knowledgeable about dive equipment by the end of the 3 night course.
The Equipment Specialist course consists of three main parts:
- Knowledge development completed using home study.
- Instructor presentations and demonstrations.
- Practical exercises. These form the bulk of the course so be prepared to work!
Who should take this course?
- All dive professionals, including Divemasters and Instructors, or those planning to become dive professionals.
- All Rescue Divers
- Anyone who dives independently (ie without a Divemaster or support team)
- Anyone interested in preventing or addressing issues with their dive gear.
- Anyone who would like to work in a dive shop or on a dive boat eventually.
- Gear junkies!
Prerequisites:
- Must be an Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization).
- Be 10 years of age.
What we include:
- Theory sessions.
- Skill practice.
- All PADI certification costs.
What you will do:
- Learn the proper maintenance and repair of all gear.
- Practice and experiment.
- Learn how to build your own dive gear maintenance toolkit
What we suggest:
- We strongly suggest ownership of the Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving and we strongly encourage you to read the chapter on dive equipment prior to the course. Don`t have it? Drop by to pick one up.
- Consider investing in a small toolbox that you will use to build your dive gear maintenance kit over time. During the course we will provide you with a list of our favourite dive tools and save-a-dive items that we never visit a dive site without.
Remember, while lots of dive centres offer a PADI Equipment Specialist course, the Action Scuba version is one of our Signature Courses, which means you won`t find anything like it elsewhere.
This certification counts toward the Master Scuba Diver rating.
